Bandera
Electric Cooperative awards ten $1,000 scholarships to area high school seniors
and currently enrolled post-secondary education students each year. These
scholarships will be awarded to the immediate families of members of Bandera
Electric Cooperative whose primary residence is served by the cooperative.
There are three criteria considered by the selection panel. Those include:

Financial need

Community involvement

Strength of Submitted Essay
The
scholarship recipients must submit the
APPLICATION and associated
documents by March 31 of the year they expect to be enrolled. The winners will
be announced in May.
This
scholarship program was established in 1998 by Bandera Electric Cooperative to
encourage and assist in the educational pursuits of its members and their
immediate families.
Texas House
Bill 3203, which was passed September 1997, permits nonprofit electric
cooperatives to retain unclaimed capital credit payments for scholarships.
The number of scholarships and the amount awarded will vary annually, based on
the unclaimed capital credit payments for that year.
